AMERICAN LEGACY THEATRE RECEIVES $200,000 DONATION

In-Classroom theatre education program to see transformational growth due to generous gift from Cincinnati couple.

American Legacy Theatre (ALT) is now on a trajectory to serve twelve times the number of students each year thanks to the five-year pledged gift from Tom and M.C. Brennan to expand access to theatre arts education through ALT’s In Classroom work. Tom and MC Brennan have pledged a generous 5-year gift to help expand access to theatre arts education for students in the greater Cincinnati region.

American Legacy Theatre (ALT) is a theatre for social change aspiring for a day when every American has access to the empathy-building art form of theatre and has a respected voice “in the room where it happens.”  We work toward our vision by generating inviting, reimagined theatrical experiences for people to have a voice in enriching society.

Since 2018, the flagship program Students Create Change has worked In Classrooms to give students the platform to voice their ideas about the social issues they care about most.

Students Create Change has given students (PreK-12) the training and support they need to write, design, and act in their own original production, giving the larger society the opportunity to learn how we might create the future they hope to inherit. Upon completion of the program, students perform their world premiere for friends, family, and guests in their own community.

Students Create Change and other programming In Classrooms develops the whole child for life-long success through theatre arts.

“This gift is truly transformational!"  says Executive Artistic Director & CEO Matthew David Gellin.
